Trump Repeats Nixon’s Fateful Panic

This time, the president’s defenders are complicit in the concealment.

It is better to call a thing by its name.

Oil Boom Gives the U.S. a New Edge in Energy and Diplomacy

Having survived a slump, shale drilling is surging as prices recover, limiting market upheaval and providing Washington with strategic leeway.

Relatively cheap oil always wins.

An Article of Impeachment Against Donald J. Trump

It may not happen, but the necessary trail of evidence is there.

"Congressional Republicans show zero interest, and they’re the ones in charge."

Do it if it can pass.

Vote.

No man can be above the law.

"The same question faces us now: Can a president use the power of his office to hold himself above the law? Trump is unlikely to face impeachment anytime soon, or perhaps anytime at all. But it’s time for all of us — voters, members of Congress, Trump’s own staff — to be honest about what he’s done. He has obstructed justice"

America Has Chosen the Wrong Partner

The United States shouldn’t rely on People’s Protection Units militants in Syria, but on Turkey.

The American government has created a problem that must be
approached diplomatically.
The Trump administration does not do diplomacy.
The Erdugan  government is both threatened and insulted.
No solution occurs to me.
Reducing Turkey to anarchy would go far toward resolving the immediate problem at a price I would not pay.
It would delight Putin to bind Turkey to a destructive alliance.
Very quickly Russia would gain the warm water ports and a market for their Caspian oil and gas as well as the Persian, Iraqi and probably Saudi petroleum.
Global Warming would accelerate.
1923 is far in the past.  There was a solution then.

We could probably shelter enough Kurds to . . . no not viable.

I hope to be surprised.
