"Sam Bird, driving for Virgin Racing, scored a victory Sunday in the Putrajaya ePrix for Formula E electric cars in Malaysia. It was the second event in the inaugural season of Formula E racing.
Lucas di Grassi, the Audi Sport ABT driver who won the first race, held in Beijing in September, finished second behind Bird in Malaysia. Di Grassi still leads the season points standings for the drivers title by three points over Bird, who was third in Beijing.
Di Grassi had started the Malaysia event in the back row of the grid because of a penalty incurred in preliminaries. Sebastien Buemi, driving for e.dams-Renault, also overcame a penalty to finish third.
The third Formula E race is scheduled for Dec. 13 in Punta Del Este, Uruguay."
