Warren Leads Tight Iowa Race as Biden Fades, Poll Finds

Ms. Warren garnered 22 percent in a New York Times/Siena College poll, to 19 percent for Bernie Sanders. Pete Buttigieg has surged, while Mr. Biden’s travails have put the race in flux.

OK.   Good to know.

Catholic Bishops Agree: Anything but a Woman

The push to allow married men to serve as priests isn’t progress. It’s another form of misogyny.

Roman Catholicism should change.

Elizabeth Warren Proposes $20.5 Trillion Health Care Plan

Ms. Warren would impose huge tax increases on businesses and billionaires to pay for “Medicare for all,” but she said she would not raise taxes on the middle class.

No plan survives execution.

A Divided House Endorses Impeachment Inquiry Into Trump

House Democrats rallied behind a measure setting out rules for the public phase of their impeachment inquiry into President Trump, endorsing the process.

No surprises.

Trump Has Received a Formal Invitation to Be Impeached

The House resolution confirms the developments that will almost definitely end in the president’s impeachment.

Trump will be impeached for past acts.
He has nothing to the process.
He can't even plead guilty.

Can Trump Avoid Taxes by Leaving New York? It’s Not So Simple.

The state has a platoon of auditors who zealously examine whether people are trying to skirt taxes by improperly claiming that they live elsewhere.

Taxes are owed on taxable receipts and property.
The person's location does not control federal taxation.

Trump is trying to be guilty.

After Juror Exchanged 7,000 Texts, Murder Verdict Is Overturned

A juror’s conduct is deemed so bad that a prominent New York doctor who was convicted of killing his wife will be tried again.

The jury did not believe Mr. Neulander.
She was injured in the shower.

He will probably be convicted again.

Lots of Job Hunting, but No Job, Despite Low Unemployment

Even with the strongest labor market in half a century, getting work after losing it can still be a challenge.

The joke runs:
A shopper at Walmart asked about the rumor of plenty of jobs in the area.
The clerk replied that there was plenty of work.
She had three of those jobs and could not meet her expenses.

Trump, Lifelong New Yorker, Declares Himself a Resident of Florida

The president filed a “declaration of domicile” last month saying that his property in Palm Beach will be his permanent residence.

I expect Trump will go to prison.
It will not be for acts as president.

The Rules of Impeachment

Aaron Sorkin: An Open Letter to Mark Zuckerberg

Facebook isn’t defending free speech, it’s assaulting truth.

Media should be responsible for their published content.
I understand that personal messages should not be broadcast.
They are the responsibility of the authors.

The Facebook business model must change.

Obama on Call-Out Culture: ‘That’s Not Activism’

The former president challenged young activists for being judgmental. “You should get over that quickly,” he said.

People have the right to speak.
People have the right not to hear.
People do not have the right to keep others from hearing.
People do not have the right to force others to hear.

Christie’s Auctioned a $40 Million Diamond. Was It Stolen?

The diamond was bought by a member of the Qatari royal family, but the descendants of an Italian politician say it belongs to them. They have sued the auction house and its client, a gems dealer.

The title to the stone is clear.
It is not an historical artifact subject to cultural claims or wartime loot.

The Italians are fighting about a moot title to the stone.

The court should dismiss the case against Cristie's.

ISIS Leader Paid Rival for Protection but Was Betrayed by His Own

The world’s most wanted terrorist, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, was so worried about security that he only trusted a handful of aides and family members. One of them betrayed him.

The U.S. should not indulge in assassination.

A self defense argument is questionable.
It may not stand against conspiracies.
I would like to see a Supreme Court ruling on the question.
There should also be a ruling in the Security Council of the U.N.
The General Assembly will probably be required to vote to get a definitive ruling.
