The Princess Problem

Can a prince meet his true love within 30 days?
Creativity; Mathematics; Puzzles

The obvious strategy is to knock on doors serially.   The problem is she will move from a door not yet knocked to the previously knocked door in one day.
That would pass her through the search.

The prince knocks on each door serially two days running starting at one end of the array.  She was not behind the door knocked on if it did not open.
If she was behind the next door she went the other way if the second knock does not open the door. She may arrive at the second door after the second knock at the first door so the third and fourth knock must be on the second door. Repeat until found.  The prince can ignore the first and last door.
If she were behind the first door on the first day she will answer the second door on the second day.  If she is behind door seventeen on day twenty nine
she will answer door sixteen on day thirty.
