The N.S.A.’s surveillance undermines the free exchange of knowledge on which we all depend.
Surveillance of Citizens by Government; Freedom of Speech and
Expression; Privacy; Suits and Litigation (Civil); Espionage and
Intelligence Services
Hopeless

Encryption does not hide the metadata that shows the source and destination of messages. The onion router can give some delay. It can be "broken".
Encryption is by design not public.
