The president has said Tehran will suffer if American interests are

The Subject at the White House Was Criminal Justice. The Subtext Was the Election.
It remains to be seen how President Trump can capitalize on his support for
the First Step Act, as his advisers have told him to do, to appeal to
African-American and moderate white voters.
Representational democratic government should not be so cheaply destroyed.

How Many Candidates Is Too Many?

They Like Joe Biden in Iowa. For Now. (Many Voters Are Still Looking.)
Interviews across Iowa indicate Mr. Biden’s early lead comes from
familiarity, nostalgia for the Obama years and strategic calculations about
who can win, not just from enthusiasm for his vision.
I do not want Joe Biden as the candidate.

Open Thread
Today has been one of those days dedicated to jumping through an intricate
combination of bureaucratic hoops, so, alas, no proper post. Use this post
to discuss topics unrelated to recent posts, and remember that I have a
fundraiser going on, with nifty goals and a determination of how much I’ll
write in general, if […]
Billions of people will die.
Technic civilization will not survive.
The dying will tear trade appart.
Looting will follow the end of trade.
Money will not help.
I do not want to go toward that inevitable end alone or in company.
Company is a bit better.

Joe Biden Said He Did Not View Abortion ‘As a Choice and a Right’ in 2006
In the newly unearthed video, in which Mr. Biden reaffirmed his support for
