REVEALED: HOW THE VALUE OF THE EURO IS BEING DEGRADED IN ORDER TO SAVE THE BANKS

This is what the European Central Bank describes as its objective on the relevant EU site:
‘The primary objective of the ECB’s monetary policy is to maintain price stability’

Wrong on the economics, all parties.
Krugman gets it.  He has not commented on the current European knot.

From the Athens News: Eurogroup rejects PSI deal
Eurozone finance ministers on Monday gave the thumbs-down to a plan for private sector involvement (PSI) in the writedown on Greek debt.
...
"We told him [Venizelos] to continue the negotiations [with Dallara] until the interest rate comes down below 4 percent," Eurogroup chairman Jean-Claude Juncker told a news conference in Brussels late on Monday.

Juncker was referring to the average interest rate (annual coupon) of the new 30-year bonds that will be issued to bondholders after the haircut of 50 percent on the face value of their portfolio.
From the WSJ: EU Ministers Resume Crisis Talks
The International Monetary Fund and the euro zone's four triple-A-rated countries—Germany, the Netherlands, Finland and Luxembourg—are pushing for a low average interest rate on new bonds to be issued as part of the restructuring ...

"Obviously Greece and the banks have to do more in order to reach a sustainable debt level," Dutch Finance Minister Jan Kees de Jager said ... He said debt restructuring terms that ensure a sustainable debt level is "absolutely a precondition" for a second EU bailout package for Greece.
Of course Greece is a small part of the problem, also from the WSJ: Fears Mount That Portugal Will Need a Second Bailout"

Japan Debates Depictions of Young Girls in Comics
"Emer writes: What sort of causality exists between art and action? Despite having decades of this sort of material being published, I would hazard a guess that rates of pedophilia, child molestation, sexual abuse, or statutory rape are much lower in Japan than in the U.S." Well those happily adjusted comic book reading Japanese men that you posit make up a big portion of the swell guys who book sex tours to Thailand, Cambodia, or the Philippines to engage in the same pedophilia, child molestation, and sexual abuse that you think doesn't happen in Japan. and You may be correct or not depending on how stats or data are compiled in notoriously paternalistic Japan. What is not in debate is the huge number of South Asian women brought to Japan to be "entertainers", housekeepers, nannies, or the like and who then have their passports confiscated and are kept against their will in circumstances that are horrific. It is an interesting commentary that Japan has in the last few years instituted women-only subway cars in an attempt to reduce the morning commute groping. It is still unsettling to get on a subway or train and see a bunch or trench-coat wearing salary men reading comics that look like they should be in Tokyo Alien MILF Fantasy. Japan is a truly wonderful, bizarre, and incredibly conflicted society. It's unbelievably proper and correct, and incredibly nasty and misogynistic.

Very very true.  I can admire much of the high culture.
The culture makes monsters and they know it.

The problem is that this girl drill team is not pioneering.
It may be 'new' to their culture but the result is well known
