Safety Concerns Stoke Criticism of Kennel Club

The American Kennel Club is best known as the go-to place for registering purebreds and as the governing body for dog shows. But the club is coming under increased scrutiny.
Breeding of Animals; Dogs; Cruelty to Animals;

The American Kennel Club and its inspectors should be very carefully audited.  This looks far too much like corruption, probably bribery.

Sunday Dialogue: How to Give Families a Path Out of Poverty

Readers discuss safety-net programs, better-paying jobs and support for parents.
Poverty; Welfare (US); Minimum Wage; Families and Family Life; Tax Credits, Deductions and Exemptions;

The problems of people in the trap of poverty are many and various.
Almost all of them would be much more manageable with income.
As we do not do significant charity income means paid work.
Businesses will not pay for work they do not need and their needs are small and stable. Paid work for the poor means government spending.
The GOP opposes any government spending.  If the power of the GOP to block government spending were to be broken the adult poor would cease in general.  There would still not be a path out of poverty for families.  Most people value the culture that raised them and would see their children raised in that same culture.  Some culture is destructive of the values that form a path out of poverty.
Paid child care almost from birth is a solution.  If it is government paid it will be secular and liberal.  All attached to the GOP will strongly object.
Many others will join them.

Why Can Some Kids Handle Pressure While Others Fall Apart?

Scientists think bouts of panic in stressful situations can be traced to genetics. But don’t freak out. Biology is not necessarily destiny.
Anxiety and Stress; Genetics and Heredity; Psychology and Psychologists; Tests and Examinations; Education (K-12);

Probably true.
A small personal observation.
My father and my brothers were intensely competitive.
As was I.  My older brother had a two year and twenty percent strength advantage.  I was not allowed to win.  I had a problem with dyslexia. I was not winning.  I retreated into science as I understood it and became isolated. I learned to read and became more isolated.  Study toward a goal I found near impossible.  I would early drown in detail.  I am still impossibly slow in working things out.

If this generation is not willing to pay for the education of the children the children must pay when they can.

The investment banks are betting on no inflation.
The banks have the power to force their win.

Sunday Dialogue: How to Give Families a Path Out of Poverty

Readers discuss safety-net programs, better-paying jobs and support for parents.
Poverty; Welfare (US); Minimum Wage; Families and Family Life; Tax Credits, Deductions and Exemptions;

If this generation is not willing to pay for the education of the children the children must pay when they can.
The school boards are betting on inflation.
The investment banks are betting on no inflation.
