They Were Shorter and at Risk for Arthritis, but They Survived an Ice Age

A genetic mutation that knocks a centimeter off height and increases the risk for arthritis may have helped early humans in Europe and Asia to survive, a new study shows.

There is no more information in this piece than is presented in the headline.
Frustrating.

Want to Get Rid of Trump? Only Fox News Can Do It

Sean Hannity might have more power over the president’s fate than Mitch McConnell or Paul Ryan.

"Agnew first."

Donnie and Vlad: A Love Story

What Cold War? There’s nothing but heat here.

Yes.
The illness is probably terminal for Trump.

To me, it does look good.

There is a humorous story about a scientist fascinated by a disfiguring and terminal disease.  In the process of studying the disease he contracted it.  He  diagnosed the infection in a mirror.  Others commented on his condition.
His response was: "On me it looks good."

Let’s just all get on the same page before my special day.

My Depressing Summers in Belize

I spend the hot months in the water, studying ocean ecosystems. What I see happening to our coral reefs is deeply alarming.

It is, in fact, too late to prevent catastrophic warming.
Colonies of coral ecology will be moved to cooler waters.
Hotter water ecology will fill in the bleached areas.
Preservation is no longer an option.
Low and no carbon emission energy technologies will
slow the warming.
Slowing the warming is worth doing.

Democrats Court Military Veterans in Effort to Reclaim House

The party, which has about 20 veterans who have announced bids so far, hopes to appeal to the sort of frustrated voters who elected President Trump.

The Military is not composed of stupid people.

The strategy is a good one.
No veteran favors war.
"The only way to win is not to play"

Layers of Flaky Dough, and History, at King Tut Pie

The flavors of Egypt are tucked into crepes at this new restaurant in a former bodega in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn.

If you wish.
I can find it and park.
Crepes are not mentioned in the text.

The ‘Rewilding’ of a Century-Old Cranberry Bog

Scientists are turning a cranberry bog back into coastal wetland. The experiment is seen as a path for dormant bogs and another chance for vanishing habitat.

I applaud the project.
Wetlands are essential to fish in the ocean.
An eel population should be established.
Fresh water entering the ocean should draw them.

Jefferson’s Lesson for Democrats

Jefferson infused his political philosophy with Christian values, even though he was not a deeply religious man in the traditional sense.

I have never felt much "need to know" the argument.
I am personally comfortable with a secular life.

A FaceTime Relationship Turns Face to Face

A woman discovers that in-person love is much more taxing than just holding up a phone.

I suppose I am a fool.
After many years fighting with it, love is what I have.
