Georgia Escapees Steal Second Vehicle as Manhunt Continues

The authorities have increased their reward to $90,000 as they search for Donnie R. Rowe and Ricky Dubose, who they say killed two prison guards.

I have seen this movie.

The Media’s Missing the Story

Senate leaders have gone to extraordinary lengths to keep their health care bill secret, and the media has been too accommodating.

It is hard to write interestingly about silence.

Bernie Sanders was not a Democrat.
He may have changed his affiliation.

Attack Tests Movement Sanders Founded

The bloody shooting of Republican lawmakers by a Bernie Sanders supporter could prove to be an opportunity for the senator’s fans to consider their message.

Bernie Sanders is the lone face of the inchoate American left.

The crazies build support structures for their craziness.
Sanders should not be considered among the crazies.
The American left has been suppressed since F.D.R. died in office.
It is unsurprising that some of the faithful are frustrated and insane.
The editorial board at the Times should carefully consider the phrasing of the articles it publishes.
This article is an unjustified attack on the political left.

As Female Elk Age, They Learn to Evade Hunters

Older female elk are able to adjust their behavior and adopt more stealth strategies through life, scientists found.

The learning mechanism is suggested though not investigated.
There is more human learning to be done.
Support for the project should be continued.

Megyn Kelly, Alex Jones and a Fine Line Between News and Promotion

The new Sunday newsmagazine host has faced a storm of criticism for sitting down with the lightning rod conspiracy promoter, but he’s relevant. The question is how he’s interviewed.

No such line can be drawn.
Every phrase Alex Jones utters promotes his world view.
His world view is news. It belongs in the general interest section.
There is no need to support Alex Jones as a person of general interest.
He should have no place in the broad political discussion.

There is this person, Alex Jones, who holds fantastical views.

Bill Cosby Trial Day 9: What to Expect

The fourth day of deliberations will likely provide some insight into whether the jury is close to agreeing on a verdict, or is potentially deadlocked.

Jury deliberations are secret.
The court will announce the verdict.

Shooting Is Latest Eruption in a Grim Ritual of Rage and Blame

The attack on lawmakers in Virgnia was less an aberration than the latest example of a grim trend, widely remarked upon by leaders in both parties, but never slowed or stopped.

The obvious goal of James T. Hodgkinson was fratricidal civil war.
He attempted to play John Brown at Harper's Ferry.
A proper response is the analytical investigation of the present political disfunction and
the resolution of the political problems at the root of the disfunction.
There is no sign of such investigation.
None of the people who should be responsible show any interest in the publication of the knowledge.
