My friend and former professor escaped from his semi-retirement in Key West.
The escape happened about ten weeks ago.
The first eight weeks were spent with health care issues, hospitals and nursing homes.
Work at Pratt has continued throughout the visit.

A Pro-Trump Conspiracy Theorist, a False Tweet and a Runaway Story

The journey of one tweet shows how misinformed, distorted and false stories are gaining traction far beyond the fringes of the internet.

https://www.nytimes.com/2017/06/10/us/politics/comey-fake-news-twitter-posobiec.html?mabReward=R1&recp=0&src=rec&recp=0

All internet and broadcast material is editorial in nature.
Printed mater should be included in that category.
The factual basis of stories is always questionable.
The New York Times and N.P.R. make an effort to be factual in their news reporting.
They have little reason to distort the facts as the facts usually support their editorial positions.
The editors are not immune to deception from themselves and from their journalists and their journalists sources.
Retractions are rare and often long delayed after the story runs.
The Republican side never seems to run a retraction.

Can Democrats Save Themselves?

The moment is ripe. The means are another matter.

Progressive and populist are different things.
The Democrats can promise that things will be better if everyone benefits.

‘You Can’t Rattle Her’: Katy Tur on the Rise

The NBC correspondent’s rise at the network mirrored that of the presidential candidate she covered and occasionally battled with.

Good for her. She is dealing with life.

It’s the Olympics for Trump Apologists

But the feats of Republican excuse-making are no match for James Comey’s damning testimony.

Apologizing for Trump has become a contest!

Opioid Dealers Embrace the Dark Web to Send Deadly Drugs by Mail

Anonymous online sales are surging, and people are dying. Despite dozens of arrests, new merchants — many based in Asia — quickly pop up.

The money is not worth the risks to me.
I see no way to stop the traffic.
It is interesting that "the great firewall of China" has failed.
I will have to explore the use of the "dark web".
It is a file transfer protocol and the use of the onion router.

China’s New Bridges: Rising High, but Buried in Debt

China has built hundreds of dazzling new bridges, including the longest and highest, but many have fostered debt and corruption.

We will see if it works.
It probably will work.
It is Keynesian stimulation at work.

Sessions Will Testify in Senate on Russian Meddling in Election

Instead of discussing the Justice Department budget, Attorney General Jeff Sessions will face questions from members of Congress who have access to intelligence materials on the Russia inquiry.

I will be interested in the report.

The president vowed to find out if James Comey had leaked any more sensitive information.

Comey is not under investigation with the prospect of impeachment.

Trump-Comey Feud Eclipses a Warning on Russia: ‘They Will Be Back’

Security experts worry that the focus on the battle between the president and the former F.B.I. director will divert attention from Russian intervention.

Any fight between Comey and Trump is a distraction from the business in hand.
