Trump Boasts of ‘Record-Setting’ Pace of Activity

At an unusual cabinet meeting, in which those present paid tribute to Mr. Trump one by one, he said there had never been a president “who’s done more things than what we’ve done.”

I suppose a boast about thumb twiddling is possible.

The Modern Trans Memoir Comes of Age

Two new memoirs, by Janet Mock and Caitlyn Jenner, reveal how trans writing about identity is evolving.

The Halfhearted Opposition to the G.O.P.’s Health Care Misery

The lobbying groups for doctors, hospitals and many others oppose the Republican health care bill. But they’re being far too timid about it.

In my least forgiving moments I have thought the Republican bill should become the law of the land.
about twenty million poor people and working elderly will be at risk of death.
The insurance companies will expire.
Hospital bills will go unpaid.  Most of the hospitals will close.
All doctors and nurses will not make a living.
Medical schools will close or shrink.

Health care has become a significant fraction of the economy.
The economy takes a major hit.
