      Allergy-Free New York
      San Luis Obispo, Calif.
I would rather be near a male ginkgo in flower than a female in fruit.
I have a little trouble with oak pollen and with poison ivy, nothing life threatening.  I was getting sensitized to bees when I kept them.
Again it was not bad.  Your allergies are probably much like that.
Just enough to make me cautious.  Allergies are nasty in urban populations.  Marla and her children have miserable sensitivities.

Road to November: In Bellevue, Neb., ‘Mad About Everything’
It was lunchtime at the Downtown Coffee Shop, and the only customers were a reporter and photographer from out of town. The talk turned to politics, and the coffee shop’s owner, Chris Kouba, let it rip.

It does not look bad.  Not real good yet.

    Nature in the City
I would rather be out of town. I object to interstates and coal mines in the neighborhood. Poor House road south of the Tuscarora Pike?
Nature is better without much cultivation.

Does IMF Stand for Impressive Macroeconomic Flexibility?
So the IMF is holding a meeting on rethinking macroeconomic policy (I was invited but couldn’t make the timing work.) And the Fund’s chief economist has already made it clear that he’s open to some serious revision of the prevailing paradigm.
      The evidence is negative.
      We are waiting for developments.
I went through what I could find earlier.
      Krugman gave us fluff today.

I like less local culture.  Museums are a few days a year.  The rest of it is moribund.   I mainly need to work on projects.  Sales can start over the net.  If I find a solution set the customers will travel.

      Are Bad Times Healthy?
Most people are worried about the health of the economy. But does the economy also affect your health?
It does.  These hard times will at best be a very mixed event.
One hundred fifty years ago we died at about fifty. Now we die at about eighty five. I can get real figures.  Bad times are not healthy.
A bit of strain can be.

The markets are looking cheerful in their ignorance.  The signs are not good.

      The Underlying Tragedy
On Oct. 17, 1989, a major earthquake with a magnitude of 7.0 struck the Bay Area in Northern California. Sixty-three people were killed. This week, a major earthquake, also measuring a magnitude of 7.0, struck near Port-au-Prince, Haiti. The Red C...
