Is Spanking a Black and White Issue? - Room for Debate
Traditionally, corporal punishment has been more common among black parents. Is that changing?

      I am not a painter.
      The man is gone.
      The work remains.
I do not want to live with it.
How much of it will be on view in a century will be its value.

Peer Pressure and Spanking Among Black Parents - Room for Debate
Black parents may be supported by family and friends because they believe spanking instills respect for their children's interactions with authority figures.
Operating on culture from the outside is a very dangerous thing to do.
    We should know that.
So far the theoreticians of child rearing have been wrong.
We have learned to understand dogs and horses.
Young children may not be that different.

    Stop Coddling the Super-Rich
We mega-rich should not continue to get extraordinary tax breaks while most Americans struggle to make ends meet.
"Job one for the 12 is to pare down some future promises that even a rich America can’t fulfill. Big money must be saved here."
This is wrongly seen.  The costs will come down as the model used to predict them changes.  The rest is on target.

BIN LADEN DEAD, U.S. OFFICIAL SAYS
Oh my gosh. After ten years, what do you say? It seems everything has already been said. Perhaps this will be a coda to a long, sad chapter of American history. I don't know whether I am glad that another person, even if it is bin Laden, has died for such crazy, terror-causing beliefs, but I do know that I wish it would all just end. Attacks, hatred, death - hasn't the world had enough of it? In some way I suppose justice has been served, but ultimately I would rather - we would all rather, I think - that 9/11 had never even happened.

      Actions have consequences.   Always.

I have wanted to know why things have happened.

The record is required. Knowing where it is and what is in it is required.
Looking at it repeatedly is sick.

Blacks Are Breaking From the Tradition of Spanking - Room for Debate
Race aside, we all tend to raise our children the way we were brought up often without proof that those same parenting styles will be successful in our own children’s upbringing.
"Latch key" children are far too prevalent.
There has been a great deal of theorising on child rearing.
I have memories of childhood but no experience as a parent.
We should not be sending monsters into the world.

    We are doing better there.
It is not good yet. The mud is still dead.
