The Pope and the Pedophilia Scandal

Again the 'church' is complicit in atrocity. Clearly the pope was the principal figure in the German child abuse and cover up, so, why, like the Irish bishop, isn't he forced to resign? Is it because he is never wrong and therefore it's OK for him to turn a blind eye to these crimes committed by his priests? The latest example of religion being rotten to the highest levels of leadership.
