If Reform Fails

Recently Dr. MARCIA ANGELL, a champion of single payer system, a pointed out in a discussion with Bill Moyers that the current version of the health care bill pushed by the President is a big give away to the Insurance industry. The current bill offers an additional 30 million people as customers to insurance companies while the insurance companies keep their freedom to raise premiums as they please. In addition, the present bill allows insurance companies to charge people over 55 years three times the insurance premium for younger people. Are these really insurance reform?

This is not reform. The bill is the best that could have gotten sixty votes in the senate. It will need modification. Unfortunately there will be time.
