A.I.G., Greece, and Who’s Next?
Here we go again, it's the dems against the repubs over money. Strong regulation of banks (and brokerages, insurance companies, hedge funds) is needed, but the dems aren't strong enough nor resolute enough to do it. Sigh. We need a latter day Ferdinand Pecora. At least we know what drives the repubs - money, and lots of it. Look at the lengths to which Bunning and Shelby went for a little pork. The affected the lives of hundreds of thousands of people for personal gain, albeit indirect. How can anyone support such crass hypocrisy?
Easy "I will be gone, you will be gone." and "Other peoples money."
and "There is no such thing as a bad risk. Only a bad fee."
Graduated taxation is an approach that might work.
For enough money, the risk of prison and disgrace looks OK.
