I am not sure about this. I look men and women differently. Perhaps a "best actor" as gender neutral and awards for pretty girl, pretty boy, hansom man and hansom woman. Gender is not neutral or trivial but it has little to do with the art of acting now. Historically gender and orientation carried great weight.
