Mayor de Blasio to Raise Base Pay for City Workers

Mayor Bill de Blasio is set to announce on Wednesday a $15-an-hour minimum wage for New York City’s public work force that city officials said would be among the highest of its kind in the country.

Very few work for the bottom of the scale.
There are many reasons to raise the floor and  and no reason to try to pay less.

Ty Lawson Is Suspended Over Drunken Driving Arrest

The N.B.A. has suspended Houston Rockets guard Ty Lawson for three games without pay because of a drunken driving case in California last year.

"Pau Gasol had 17 points and 18 rebounds, Derrick Rose scored 18 points, and the Bulls beat the Boston Celtics, 101-92, on Thursday night in Chicago for their sixth straight victory.
Jimmy Butler added 19 points and 10 assists.
The Bulls used a big third quarter to extend their longest winning streak of the season, handing the Celtics their fourth loss in five games.
Boston Coach Brad Stevens missed the game to visit the former Butler center Andrew Smith, who played on the Bulldogs’ two runs to the national championship game. Smith has been battling non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma and was scheduled to have a bone marrow transplant Thursday, according to The Boston Globe.
With the assistant coach Jay Larranaga filling in for Stevens, Boston got 17 points from Jae Crowder. Kelly Olynyk added 16 points and 9 rebounds, but the Celtics shot just 35.7 percent and were 5 of 25 from 3-point range."
