As Obama Pushes Overhaul of Food Aid, Panels in Congress Favor Smaller Changes

After the Obama administration proposed moving the international food aid program out of the Agriculture Department, the Congressional Agriculture Committees took lesser actions.

The program as it stands subsidizes American farmers.
The Republicans like that.
The proposed program buys food in the target countries with tax money.  It does not pay American farmers.
The Republicans don't like that.

The Forester received a rating of “Good” in all categories of the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s new crash test. Most other compact crossovers and S.U.V.’s fared poorly.
