U.S. Mideast Envoy Resigns After 2 Years of Frustration
The US should have bowed out long ago. The Israeli lobby is too strong. The US and Israel say there should be negotiations only because Israel holds all the cards. There needs to be an imposed settlement from the UN and sanctions against Israel when they don't accept the terms. Go back to the UN Partition Plan of 1947 (and read it carefully!)There can be no peace when both sides think they can win.

Go back to the UN Partition Plan of 1947 (and read it carefully!)The UN plan was an attempt to stop a war.The war has continued in spite of all efforts. The only possible end condition is a victory.I would far rather see an Israeli victory than a Palestinian victory. There will be many more survivors.Victory is unacceptable to the Israelis because the resulting state would not be majority Hebrew.Victory condition for the Palestinian cause involves a second genocide for the Israelis. The Israelis are well armed and organized against such an event. The butcher's bill would be truly shocking.Much of the world thinks the US needs to learn diplomacy. I agree to that but want the lesson to be world wide.

It’s Not About You
“It’s Not About You - http://nyti.ms/kSo9Fy”It is amazing how many ways David Brooks can be wrong in one column.Ultimately it must be about the individual. The debt is trivial as long as the interest is paid and a bit more. There are no rewarding jobs to be had. The graduates will have to find a joy that allows existence. They must start the search. No sane person seeks pain. We do seek accomplishment.Education should teach the skills needed for accomplishment. The accomplishment itself is the quest.
Technology Provides an Alternative to Love.
“Technology Provides an Alternative to Love. - http://nyti.ms/iosFg6”Not quite right. But closer than Brooks.Seek the accomplishment, not the pain of accomplishment. There will be plenty of pain There is no need to seek it. -

David Brooks is wrong again. It is about you.The quest is for that developed self.It cannot be bought or given. It must be built.Creation is one of the great joys. The pain is worth it and not the goal. -

BP Resumes Work to Plug Oil Leak After Facing Setback
No Southerners or Floridians had anything to say that was worthy of a 'highlight'? The so-called 'best' comments come from people who don't and won't have to live with this unbelievable CRIME? WE here on the Gulf coast are the ones who yearly count the hatching turtles on the shore. WE are the ones who rescue the manatees run over by transplanted out-staters in motor boats. WE are the people who protect the nesting terns on the beaches. WE are the ones who live next to this saline sea and its smells and sights. WE are not your god damn gas station suppliers. WE ALSO LOVE THE BEAUTY AND BOUNTY OF NATURE AND WE ARE ANGRY!!!! It must be so easy for you people in Seattle and who cares where to pontificate about oil industry sacrifices and energy needs when it's not in YOUR BACKYARD that this poison is being dumped with no end in sight! Hey, you stupid 'conservatives' who's only politidal committment is enriching the corporate pocketbook and not the American standard of living? You guys are mentally ill. I hope to send you all a disgusting bottle of dead birds and stinking sulphuric sludge as your reward for supporting these oil corporation pirates.Vote. Vote your interest.

Domestic Detox: Extreme Home Cleaning
Whether it's cold or whether it's hot, there'll always be snake oil, whether or not. It comes in all sizes and colors via the charmers, these days sporting esoteric degrees from dubious online universities. The duped - freelance writers writing for the greatest paper in the world, and others, well-educated, and well-off enough to pay, and pay, and pay. A brother-in-law said he thought the world was coming to an end when he read of an app for the iPhone that superimposes what a texter is typing over a live camera view, so the texter can see where he's going even while he's focused on the screen. That's a pretty good sign of the coming of the apocalypse. I nominate this article as an equally terrifying candidate. That smart people will, for lack of anything otherwise meaningful to do, throw science out the window and agree to live by anecdote alone, and to pay a fabulous price to do so. Now, one could attribute this foolishness to the fact that as a species in the vastness of eons of time we are a mere toenail's length out of the jungle. It's just too bad we are bringing on our own demise, or at least cosmic meaninglessness, just as we are getting our feet on the ground.Yes, there is a lot of "snake oil" to be found. I get entangled with it from time to time. Sometimes there are facts behind the pitches.Lead is almost as nasty as it is presented. Arsenic is just as nasty.Chromate is another. Rf energy is benign at low levels.
