The challenge of making college affordable is front and center on the political stage. Donald J. Trump and Hillary Clinton have different philosophies of government to reduce the burden.

As long as Republicans control spending tuition will not go down.

State colleges should be state supported.
Tuition began to be charged to limit demand.
State legislatures found that colleges could be self supporting.
State support became minimal.

I am sure there is an optimum size for a college.
It may be the size of a lecture hall.
