The comments of our British (RS) and Australian (Sue) friends notwithstanding, this strikes me as a column that must have been dragged kicking and screaming to press. The "message" already has been internalized. We're interested in Ms. Kagan's qualifications for the Court, not in whether or how the White House might have decided to characterize her marital status. Come on, Ms. Dowd.... there are plenty of more appropriate targets out there for your witty, and usually much appreciated, social commentary.

Just tired. She has the profession of law. Ms. Dowd has nothing on her mind but relationships. The law is also about relationships. Most of them do not result in children.
