Michael D. Shear, Sheri Fink and Noah Weiland at NYT > U.S. > Politics - 55 minutes ago
The Trump administration’s response to the coronavirus has repeatedly matched public health experts against a hesitant White House, where worry of panic dominates.

The death rate from this coronavirus appears to be about 6%
The number is derived from those diagnosed and discharged and those discharged dead.
This is very high and an upper limit.

Biden Is Back: This Week in the 2020 Race

Maggie Astor and Matt Stevens at NYT > U.S. > Politics - 7 hours ago
Joseph R. Biden Jr. won South Carolina and most of the Super Tuesday states, and the race is down to him and Bernie Sanders, after Elizabeth Warren and Michael Bloomberg dropped out.

I will be surprised if Bernie Sanders is the candidate after the convention.

A Sanders Voter, Weary of Debt at 29: ‘I Have Nothing to Lose’

Sabrina Tavernise at NYT > U.S. > Politics - 7 hours ago
Brian Michelz has never worn a political T-shirt or been to a campaign rally. But when he voted for the first time in his life, it was for Bernie Sanders. What will he do if Mr. Sanders loses?

Brian Michelz has not thought enough about politics.
Sanders is more correct than Biden and less complete than Warren.
Biden will not make things worse. Trump and the Republicans will make things worse.
Rush Limbaugh and his followers would have people starving in the streets.

Federal debt does not matter. Only the interest on the bonds need be paid now.

The virus wipes out the immunological defenses of the airway and bacterial pnumonia
kills the patient.

When he is out of office he can be tried for tax evasion.

Pence, a Loyalist Tapped for Coronavirus Effort, Adds to Trump’s Mixed Messages

Katie Rogers at NYT > U.S. > Politics - 17 hours ago
In wresting control of the administration’s haphazard response to the virus, Mike Pence has taken on a familiar role as the president’s political janitor.

"Some state officials say they are appreciative of Mr. Pence’s efforts. Gov. Kate Brown of Oregon, a Democrat, said that she had been surprised by the amount of attention Mr. Pence had given her state, which has reported three coronavirus cases, and the administration’s decision to convene governors from across the country to discuss their needs.
“I would put them as extremely responsive right now,” she said. “Obviously I’m aware of his history around science but you know, he’s a former governor. He knows what it’s like to be on the front lines.”"

Good Luck.

Joe Biden Has Had Flimsy Organization. It Hasn’t Hurt Him.

Katie Glueck and Thomas Kaplan at NYT > U.S. > Politics - 18 hours ago
The less quantifiable elements of Mr. Biden’s campaign — including his association with Barack Obama, his empathy and his momentum — have outweighed his lack of organizational heft.

When the opposition is as frightening as Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren little organization is needed.

Who I Bleed With And Why Bernie Is Trusted

Ian Welsh at Ian Welsh - 1 day ago
So, identity is and always has been one of the most important forces in politics, the rise and fall of Empires, etc… This was true long before “identity politics” or intersectionality and it will be true long after they are forgotten. Identity is who you feel with. Who you bleed with. If people like you […]

Bernie Sanders is not trusted.
He would pass little legislation.
