A big part of design has been "How do you make the thing?" The three dimensional printer robs us of that kind of imagination.
As it has not been taught in recent years, It is probably a good thing to have this crutch. The Chinese will not have to learn to read a drawing. Designers will not need to carve.

These skills will be lost to most. Worse the skills that allow things to be well made of natural materials will go with them.
Victorian design explored the possibilities of cast iron and printing. Much new work explores the possibilities of three dimensional printing and the ink-jet. Along with the virtual model the tools regulate the work.
I have never been able to play this game. I have simply built skills on skills.
There are many I have not acquired yet. I just want to get some lines going to pay costs.
Let it go. There is no point to this story.
Too soon.
"Against stupidity the gods themselves contend in vain."
Let them mark a pot serd.
EG&G built cameras to photograph the reaction, In slow motion. I have seen some pictures. There are films of entrenched troops at the test site. They were shown on NY TV in the early fifties. I saw them. We knew what the blast, ignition, and radiation radii were. Fallout was well understood. I was and am happy for MAD.
It was very scary. Putting the facts back under the secrecy rug does not work well. I am surprised I am alive and healthy. I do not intend to be frightened into compliance with irrational authority. Ignorance is not a comfort.
This is a partisan fight that has escaped congress. One of the few weapons against really bad policy is to enforce it and let the consequences show. Good people get really hurt before the rolling disaster inundates the people behind the policy. I just don't want to get caught in the mess. Dish washing and other kitchen help has been the support of the itinerant for at least two centuries.
Only military service has a longer respectable tradition. Whoring. Theft. Begging.
Probably not. Food paranoia is pervasive. Better to end the subsidies.
I do not feel the need to read this book. I do not plan to ever test for race. I will test for skills and attitude.

Cuba’s Public-Sector Layoffs Signal Major Shift

It is a slippery slope. It will not make Miami happy.

I will think these thoughts as much as you want. I will not act without an invitation and confirmation.

  • The Day After Tomorrow

Republicans are riding a wave of revulsion about what is happening in Washington. But once things settle down, what about the conservative future?

I have now read it through. Brooks has not saved himself. He continues to get his history from Rupert Murdock who is beating the war drum. Subsidy is the story of American Development. Sugar in Florida, Corn syrup, Free land in the homestead act. Railroads, Highways, Canals, Oil, Wood, paper, silver, gold, copper, education, Arms, grain. The list goes on and on. We have a government, not a business. Business management does not work in government. Profit is not the objective.
I am still resisting the dynamic aspect. I rather like the snapshot. It lets me think more. My typing skills are such that I worry about carrying on a real time conversation. The reading slows me down more.
He is a reseller. eBooks will kill him. When hard copy goes, he will have no product. Much of what is published is fire starter. How to choose is his real skill.
A publisher would find him useful on the slush pile. That is not a job I could do.
The event is real. The analysis is bull. Philip Johnson was a Nazi, literally.
The "City Beautiful", the Worlds Fair of 1893, Was an action against Louis Sullivan, Specifically his gay sexuality. He never worked again. Wright supported him.

Empire building by Ideologues. Lifting the limits on corporate campaign finance was a disastrous act. Our nation will suffer from it until it is rescinded. That will not happen while there are forty conservatives in the Senate. Our Government is not a business.
This reads as a need for a better definition of species.
My offer stands as made. No limit.

    We’re No. 1(1)!

Who’s No. 1? With leaders who can’t ask the people to make some sacrifices and an education system that’s slipping, it isn’t the United States.

I agree that we need to take action. I think the actions recommended here are wrong. I fear the educational process we are about to undergo.

I drove route 5 from 28 to Albany Monday. I took no pictures. I want that city scape out of my head. Detroit might be worse but so much of Detroit is empty space.

Problems Reported With New Voting Machines

Voters around New York State stepped into the brave new world of electronic voting machines in Tuesday’s primary elections amid complaints around the city of longer-than-usual delays and troubles with the scanners that are supposed to swallow and ...

It was different. I can hope it was better.
