Inside the Knockoff-Tennis-Shoe Factory

In southern China, making fake shoes has become a very big business. Chinese authorities are slow to enforce the law, and it’s becoming harder and harder to tell which shoes are real.

I wonder how much I care.

Here we see a display of the value of marketing. If the experts can't spot the fakes without the paperwork the difference is who gets the mark up. If the mark up is worth stealing, it is larger than it needs to be or the sales effort is very effective.

The knock off trade makes it very hard to mass produce at a profit. A solution is not to mass produce.
