Red Family, Blue Family

The right wing is obsessed with abortion (as if there were no abortions before Roe v. Wade). That is not the explanation. It appears that the liberal model of a marriage based upon mutual love, rather than the 50 year ago model of women being forced to obey husbands who treated them badly due to limits on career options and not being allowed to sign many legal documents, works better. The problem appears that the right-wing men are still trying to be overlords to their women in a society that now allows the repressed woman simply to leave them, thus the high divorce rates in many red states.
