The disaster in the Gulf of Mexico is threatening an ecosystem the same way that big corporations like BP threaten our political system.

Get angry but also get on the list for an electric car,and for the winter buy a wood burning stove and put on a sweater. And in the summer turn off the air conditioning and shed the clothes. Grow your own food where possible or shop at farmers' markets or, at least, be aware of where your food originated.

These things are important and will help.

Just as important:

Participate in your community.

Support action while understanding the consequences of that action.

All of the consequences.

Vote for the best person who can win. Primaries and budget votes count.

One fact beats any number of opinions.

Money is opinion.

Fiction is opinion.

Opinion is fiction is not always true. Opinion may be fiction is true.

Theory is opinion about facts.

A competing theory must include those facts.
