All the Single Ladies
I found the insulting descriptions of Congressperson Souder to be journalistically unacceptable. Ms Dowd described the Indiana adulterer as a peanut, "goober...and physically repellent." I think op-ed writers should be edited more closely at the Times to insure that ad hominem, unprofessional and frankly unwarranted vicious attacks are excised. I am not for censorship and recognize op-eds are generally opinion oriented and not news oriented. Yet Ms Dowd and her paper have a responsiblity to enforce journalistic ethics that was so egregiously violated in this instance: namely stick to a topic and avoid shameless and abusive attacks on a person's appearance.
The only defence against a charge of slander is fact. What is that tea they are drinking?
