The first man hands Molly's father the piece of cake, and he, in turn, hands it to the second man. That concludes the transaction. For his fee, Molly's father gets to keep the crumbs that stick to his hands. In the resulting life-long fit of shame Molly, who is a very intelligent child, becomes deeply depressed and eventually joins a nunnery.
