Its sad to hear that not only did the DNA work not find anything but there were these ethical problems down the road. On the other hand seeing the pictures of some of the tribe it was obvious why they were being struck with diabetes. They were all quite overweight like the rest of the US. You don't need fancy tests to see that.

The work has been done successfully. Their incidence is higher than ours. Their historical diet was very restricted compared to the usda standard. The BIA fed at standard. We can't even be good well.
