Okay, I need to eat a little crow here, or some such. Although I am not a huge fan of Obama's plan to open up more drilling, I must confess that I have long been an advocate of a compromise on drilling. It goes like this: we'll open up more drilling domestically, if CAFE standards are raised.
That's exactly what Obama did. A 10% rise in fuel standards is not insignificant. It's not as high as I would have it, but still, there it is. So, Obama in my estimation did the right thing here. I stand corrected and I give credit where credit is due: Obama did well.
