Leslie Nielsen, Actor, Dies at 84
Mr. Nielsen was a Canadian-born actor who in middle age tossed aside three decades of credibility in dramatic and romantic roles to make a new career as a comic actor.
He was a very pretty face.

A Note to Readers: The Decision to Publish
The articles published today and in coming days are based on thousands of United States embassy cables, the daily reports from the field intended for the eyes of senior policy makers in Washington.
As a sovereign I want to know what my government is doing in my name.

Now a Giant, Google Works to Retain Nimble Minds
The pace at a big company is far slower than at a start-up, a difference that matters to the entrepreneurial spirit.
It is more a mature insight than a bureaucracy choked structure.  The adventurous are off for new frontiers.

Showing Gay Teens a Happy Future
A new online video channel is reaching out to teenagers who are bullied at school for being gay. The message: life really does get better after high school.
There was an interview with one of the initiators on npr locally.
This approach seems to work. The children cannot be told directly but the narrow cast can be found by those who need it. Watch the statistics.  I have about a month here as care giver.  Then I will again have a house full of people. I am very happy to see Jenny back on your list.

If the government wants to keep secrets, they must limit access. The line is: "Three can keep a secret if two of them are dead."

Web Upgrade HTML 5 May Weaken Privacy
Changes in the way the Web works could give marketers access to many more details about users’ online activities.
If you care, don't use it.
Wikileaks is a failure of access control. The sign on passwords leaked.

One cannot get the model right unless one understands what an input does to the output. Thomas Friedman does not understand what an input does to the output.  He cannot "get it right"

A Selection From the Cache of Diplomatic Dispatches
The text from a selection of the secret diplomatic cables.
A diplomat does two things. The ambassador speaks with the voice of her government and listens for his government.  There is a staff to assist in this.

Former Justice John Paul Stevens Criticizes Death Penalty
Justice John Paul Stevens said he found the death penalty unconstitutional because of racism, politics and hysteria.

"he wrote that personnel changes on the court, coupled with “regrettable judicial activism,” had created a system of capital punishment that is shot through with racism, skewed toward conviction, infected with politics and tinged with hysteria."

    Get It Right
Americans understand that we need nation-building at home, and we need it now.

We, all of us, are sovereign in our own right. Nation building means building persons. The rest follows.
