The Tea Kettle Movement
The Tea Party you’ve read about is just letting off steam. The one you haven’t is still looking for a leader with a real plan for action.Thomas Friedman wants the Republican party to move to the left. That will not happen. The Democratic party also will not move to the left. We may have to find a new label for the left liberal coalition that we need.I think the pain is not enough for that yet.

How to Market Your Business With Facebook
“From the NYT: How to Market Your Business With Facebook - http://bit.ly/xvwKt”All good general advice.I want a reasonably stable address and some product before I start marketing. There should be gas in the street or cheap electricity. Propane will do if necessary.

Without Star, Often Broadway Shows Can’t Go On
“Without Star, Often Broadway Shows Can’t Go On - http://nyti.ms/dxgMm7” The fashion business has long confused me. The audiences do not wan a great experience but rather the same experience someone else thought was great. It suppresses new things for old things spiced with novelty. Adventurous people do not go to Broadway or even Off Broadway. They go to new productions by reputable writers. Really adventurous people go to 'not for profit' halls and leave early. I prefer something that is both good and new. I have never made the time to track that down for myself. The New Yorker does what it can.

Apple Lifts Restrictions for App Approvals
“Huge Opportunities Here!! Apple Lifts Restrictions for App Approvals - http://nyti.ms/cGVSjJ”"Earlier in the year reports circulated that the Department of Justice and Federal Trade Commission were negotiating who could begin making antitrust inquiries to Apple over its stringent App Store restrictions."

Ancient Italian Town Has Wind at Its Back
Faced with high electricity rates, small communities across Italy are making renewable energy. An EU mandate came with membership. The mandate broke the monopoly. They will still have to deal with the dead birds. -
Atheists Outdo Some Believers in Survey on Religion
Americans surveyed on their religious knowledge got half the questions wrong, including ones about their own faith.
Faith means to many that the recitation of the bullet points excuses one from further understanding. A refuge for the lazy. -

Owners Stop Paying Mortgages, and Stop Fretting
“Owners Stop Paying Mortgages, and Stop Fretting - http://nyti.ms/d7KoIo” It is a question of who takes the loss. The bank does not want it but they really can't let the occupant stay in the house. It would not be fair to the bond holders. For the moment these houses are best in the control of their occupants. I expect that things will break in no ones favour very soon. Pay the mortgage if you want to stay in the house. If you know you are damned, fretting about salvation is beside the point.

In Scholastic Study, Children Like Digital Reading
Many children want to read on digital devices, while parents worry technology will distract young bookworms. They should stop worrying and fix the intellectual property rules. The publishers are not going to make as much money as they could imagine. -

Being Glenn Beck
The Fox News host is the face of the Tea Party and the heir to Rush Limbaugh. But he sees himself as much more.Emperor perhaps. -
Arthur Penn, Director of ‘Bonnie and Clyde,’ Is Dead
Mr. Penn, 88, transformed the movie industry with his revolutionary treatment of sex and violence in the 1967 film.It was a busy time a long time ago. I did see it a year or so later.

The Tea Kettle Movement
The Tea Party you’ve read about is just letting off steam. The one you haven’t is still looking for a leader with a real plan for action.Thomas Friedman knows some things that are true and many truths that are not.If anything we need to raise social security. Medical care can be paid for out of the existing payroll tax if we stop paying insurance executives.Collecting taxes from those who receive much more than they spend will not decrease the amount they work. Trying to maintain a bubble beyond its life is beyond any resources. The stock market is in bubble mode.

Campus Visit by Obama Isn’t Simple
The chancellor of the University of Wisconsin had to weigh the many benefits of a visit by a sitting president with the naked political purpose of that visit. Why? -
In Scholastic Study, Children Like Digital Reading
Many children want to read on digital devices, while parents worry technology will distract young bookworms. Why worry about it? Let the libraries pass out digital files. The returned value is zero. It looks to me like the publishing business model would be unchanged. The Library model would be unchanged. We are not supposed to mark up library books. If you need to mark up a book, get your own hard copy. The printers can do that much more cheaply than our home printers.
